Hot Reads-Author John Schreiber

Last night local author John Schreiber was guest speaker at the library's Hot Read For Cold Nights adult reading program. John has written five books-three deal with Ironwood county, a fictional town in Minnesota. Hillcrest Journal, Passing Through Paradise, and Life on the Fly. Tales from 2 AM are short stories and plays that are very entertaining. Heartstone is an epic fantasy written in a fast-paced, cinematic style.

John described for us his writing techniques and his journey to being published. John takes about five years to write, edit, and publish his books. He does the bulk of his writing in the summer because of his teaching and directing plays during the school year. He edits and revises during the school year. John decided to go with Publish on Demand (POD) for publishing and selling his books. The book is computerized and some are printed ahead of time for book signing etc., then if more are needed they are printed and distributed at that time. So there is no need for a large amount of start-up money.

John Schreiber grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and now lives in southern Minnesota. and is an award-winning teacher, and theater director at Triton High School. John Schrieber's website and book sales are http://frontiernet.net/~jamsch/Site/Welcome.html.
