2009 Friends Annual Meeting

The Friends of the Kasson Public Library held their annual meeting on Saturday, February 21 at the Hubbell House in Mantorville. Every year a question is asked that pertains to the guest speaker. This year the members were asked what is the favorite author and why? The answers were varied with Nicholas Sparks, Julie Kramer, to non-fiction medical questions to healthy living. President Clint Patterson chaired the meeting with Secretary Mary Mataitis reading last years minutes, and Bookkeeper Nancy Bauman giving the financial report.

Local author and Triton School teacher, John Schreiber was guest speaker and he talked briefly about the five books he has written. His main talk focused on a project he had students in his class write about local legends and ghost stories in and around Dodge County. The crowd was very interested in the legends and tales and learned more about the ghost towns in Dodge County.

One of the highlights of the meeting was to honor a member of the Friends Organization that has helped the organization and the library grow and expand it presence in the community. Pastor Clinto Patterson was honored with the 2009 Friend of the Year award.
