Tale of Blueberries and Seniors

The seniors from Prairie Meadows Assisted Living had a special treat in store for them on Thursday, August 5th , when they went to a berry farm and picked blueberries to take back home with them during the monthly inter-generational stoytime provided by the library.

Kasson Public Library outreach program Book on Wheels had their monthly inter-generational storytime and went to an actual berry farm outside of Mantorville owned by Paul Curtiss and his wife Heather and their two children. Paul is one of four families that assist Library Director Bonnie Adams with the inter-generational storytime that is held the first Thursday of every month. This program is in its fifth year serving seniors and children with a joint storytime.

There were four residents from Prairie Meadows, Prairie Meadows program director Laura, the Meek, Erickson, Gay and Curtiss families that attended the storytime devoted to stories about berries. Paul Curtiss is the reader and is highly entertaining as he uses different voices for all of the characters in the stories. The children, seniors and moms thoroughly his rendition and special skills reading the three stories.

Thank you again to the Paul Curtiss family for this very special day for "all of the children at heart" no matter what your age.
